    Update from December 29th, 8:30 p.m.: South Africa accuses Israel of “acts of genocide” once morest the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip and has therefore appealed to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). In an application filed on Friday, South Africa argues, according to the ICJ, that Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip “pursue the aim of destroying Palestinians in the Gaza Strip as part of the larger national, racial and ethnic group of Palestinians.” The Israeli government rejected the allegations “with disgust.”

    South African President Cyril Ramaphosa had already accused Israel of war crimes and “genocide” in the Gaza Strip in November. He particularly referred to the “deliberate denial of medicine, fuel, food and water to the residents” of the Palestinian territory.

    Update from December 29th, 11:35 a.m.: According to the UN Refugee Agency for the Palestinians (UNRWA), one of its aid convoys in the Gaza Strip was fired upon by Israel. The Gaza director of the aid organization, Thomas White, announced this on the platform X (formerly Twitter). Israeli soldiers fired on the aid convoy as it returned from the northern Gaza Strip. The convoy leader and his team were not injured. White warns: “Aid workers should never be a target.”
