ISRAEL claimed on Friday (27/9) that an airstrike carried out on Tuesday (24/9) in the southern suburbs of Beirut resulted in the deaths of three Hezbollah officials.

Initially, the Israeli army announced the killing of Mohammed Qabisi. But it later said other officials were also killed in the same attack.

“The attack carried out by the army on Tuesday in southern Beirut resulted in the death of Mohammed Qabisi, commander of a missile unit in Hezbollah, as well as his deputy Abbas Ibrahim Sharaf al-Din, and Hussein Hani another official in the missile system,” the statement said.

The military said that in another airstrike, Jihad Shafiq Khazal Khanfar, another official in Hezbollah’s surface-to-ground missile system, was eliminated.

Hezbollah did not immediately comment on the Israeli military’s claims. However, the Lebanese group on Wednesday confirmed Qabisi’s death.

Hezbollah and Israel have been involved in a cross-border war since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza which has killed more than 41,500 people following cross-border attacks carried out by Hamas in October last year.

Israeli bombardment of areas in Lebanon has killed hundreds of people this week, while attempts at a temporary ceasefire have not produced any results. (Ant/Z-2)
