Israel claims Al Jazeera journalists are members of armed groups

– Al Jazeera condemns Israeli accusations against its journalists in Gaza and warns against this as a pretext to go after them, says a statement from the channel.

The Israeli military (IDF) has published what it claims are documents found in the Gaza Strip that prove the men are affiliated with the groups. According to the IDF, the documents list, among other things, personnel information, salaries and an overview of military training.

– These documents are proof that Hamas terrorists are integrated into the Qatari channel Al Jazeera, says an IDF statement.

– The channel regards these fabricated accusations as a shameless attempt to conceal the few journalists left in the region, which will keep the harsh realities of the war hidden from the public around the world, replies Al Jazeera in its statement.

Al Jazeera further describes Israel’s actions towards the channel as criminal, undeservedly strict and irresponsible. The latest accusations join a wider pattern of hostility, it added.

Furthermore, the channel accuses Israel of deliberately killing several of its journalists, among them Samer Abu Daqqa and Hamza Dahdouh. Israel denies that it attacks journalists.

Israel has long accused Al Jazeera of one-sided coverage and has closed the channel’s offices in Israel and the occupied West Bank.

Al Jazeera has stubbornly rejected the Israeli accusations of biased coverage.
