The video was shot by the pilot of the Dubai-bound BA flight on Tuesday night and clearly showed a volley of newly launched ballistic missiles rising into the night sky en route to Israel.
All the missiles passed the plane safely — but the footage showed how close Iran came to causing an international incident by firing rockets into the skies without first making sure they were clear of civilian air traffic from around the world.
Airlines scrambled to divert their flights from the skies over the Middle East as Iranian missiles began flying without warning around 7:30 p.m. local time.
Iran responded with an attack however it was largely ineffective as only two Israelis were injured and the only fatality was a Palestinian in the West Bank killed by falling debris from an intercepted rocket.
