Israel authorizes the entry of 50 trucks with help from Jordan into northern Gaza

Jerusalem, Oct 16 (EFE).- Israel authorized this Wednesday the entry of 50 trucks with humanitarian aid, delivered by Jordan, into the north of the Gaza Strip through the Erez West crossing, according to a statement from COGAT, the military body in charge of managing humanitarian affairs in the enclave.

“In accordance with the directives of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and the political leadership, 50 trucks carrying humanitarian aid, which included food, water, medical supplies and shelter equipment provided by Jordan, were transferred as part of the commitment to deliver aid,” collects the statement.

The trucks, according to the text, entered Israeli territory through the Allenby border crossing, between Jordan and the occupied West Bank, and that, after passing “exhaustive security inspections”, Israel gave the green light for their entry into the north of the Fringe.

“The Israeli defense forces, through COGAT, will continue to act in accordance with international law to facilitate and facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip,” they add.

In recent days, the UN had been warning that the humanitarian situation in the north of the enclave had deteriorated again since, since last October 1, humanitarian aid had stopped entering this area.

Added to this is the return of Israeli troops to this area on October 6, which they justified by assuring that Hamas is trying to regroup there.

More than ten days later, the Israeli incursion has left more than 342 dead and hospitals in the north under siege, according to the Palestinian authorities.

Israel reactivated the entry of trucks into northern Gaza this Monday, October 14, when it authorized the entry of another thirty trucks with flour and food from the World Food Program.

It is not the first time that human rights organizations accuse Israel of using hunger “as a weapon of war”, since in more than a year of offensive, the Government of Benjamin Netanyahu has maintained most of the crossings on several occasions. from the north and south of the enclave – where the trucks enter – closed.

Hamas accuses Israel of now implementing the so-called ‘Generals Plan’ – proposed by retired generals – which seeks the forcible transfer of northern Gazans through a harsh siege and famine, while those who remain will be considered militiamen
