Israel and Hamas could resume ceasefire negotiations

Talks to curb violence between Israel and Hamas could resume as soon as this Sunday. According to Egyptian officials, negotiations would emerge from their stalemate in favor of the release of hostages.

This point is one of the main points to be discussed between the parties. Israel expects to return to the country 35 hostages detained in the Gaza Stripwhile Hamas seeks the return of 350 of its own in Israeli territory.

If it comes to fruition, it will be the first time that groups from both sides sit at the same table since the beginning of Ramadan. Meantime, The mediators will try to sign a truce of at least six weeks.

At the beginning of the week the issue was handled; However, Hamas rejected any ceasefire agreement that is not permanent.

In his case, a proposal was presented that consists of three phases to put an end to the war conflict in a concrete way.

As a first measure, it is estimated that Hamas would be able to free five women from the Israeli army in exchange for 50 of its own for each of them. The withdrawal of Israeli troops from two main roads in the combat area was also requested to allow the return of the displaced to northern Gaza.

The latter would also open the way for the arrival of help from the area.
