Interview with Federal Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar on the recent attack on prisoner transport
Interviewer: Thank you for joining us, Minister Tarar. Can you clarify what transpired during the prisoner transport incident on Friday at the Sing Jani Toll Plaza?
Attaullah Tarar: Thank you for having me. On Friday evening, as we were transporting 82 prisoners to Attock Jail after their court appearance, an organized attack occurred. Our preliminary investigation indicates that PTI workers in four vehicles attacked the vans to facilitate an escape for the suspects involved in the D Chowk incident.
Interviewer: PTI has denied these allegations, calling it a “police drama.” What is your response to this claim?
Attaullah Tarar: All evidence suggests that this was a well-planned conspiracy involving PTI operatives. We apprehended some of the escapees, and four individuals directly involved in the attack have been detained for interrogation. This was not a police drama; it was a serious attempt to compromise our justice system.
Interviewer: You mentioned that some of the escapees have already been recaptured. Can you provide us with more details about that?
Attaullah Tarar: Yes, out of the 82 prisoners, 19 tried to escape, but we have successfully recaptured them. We also have secured the vehicles involved in the attack, along with confiscated weapons. Our police acted bravely and efficiently to handle the situation.
Interviewer: What measures are being taken against those involved in the attack?
Attaullah Tarar: Strict legal action will be taken against all those involved. Charges will be filed, and we are committed to setting an example to deter such violence in the future. This incident reflects a troubling trend of PTI engaging in what I can only describe as politics of violence.
Interviewer: how do you foresee the impact of this incident on political stability in the region?
Attaullah Tarar: Incidents like these are deeply concerning, but we will not allow them to destabilize our governance or justice system. The law will take its course, and we will ensure accountability. It’s essential for all political parties to adhere to democratic norms without resorting to violence.
Interviewer: Thank you, Minister Tarar, for your insights and for addressing these critical issues.
Attaullah Tarar: Thank you for having me.
S narrative that PTI is presenting is absurd and fails to align with the facts. We have CCTV footage from the toll plaza that supports our claims and categorically refutes their version of events.
Interviewer: You mentioned that there were injuries and attempts to escape during this incident. Can you elaborate on that?
Attaullah Tarar: Yes, two policemen were injured during the chaos. In total, 19 of the attempted escapees have been recaptured. Our security forces acted bravely to thwart this escape plan, and we are taking this matter very seriously. We will ensure strict legal action is taken against all those involved in this attack.
Interviewer: The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, accused your team of creating a “drama.” How do you respond to that claim?
Attaullah Tarar: His remarks are laughable. It appears that he is attempting to divert attention from the real issue at hand. The evidence points to PTI’s involvement in this orchestrated attack. With the CCTV footage and the ongoing investigation, it’s clear which side is engaging in theatrics. We will not be intimidated by such accusations.
Interviewer: What measures are you implementing to prevent such incidents in the future?
Attaullah Tarar: We are reviewing our security protocols for transporting prisoners. This incident highlights the need for enhanced security measures to ensure that similar attacks do not occur again. Our law enforcement agencies will remain vigilant, and we are committed to holding those responsible accountable.
Interviewer: Thank you, Minister Tarar, for your insights on this critical issue. We look forward to seeing how this situation develops.
Attaullah Tarar: Thank you for having me. The safety and security of our citizens is our top priority.
