Islamabad: A camouflaged suspect involved in bank and cash van robberies was arrested from Sargodha for his ‘white joggers’.
According to the sources, the money stolen from the accused and the weapons used in the bank robbery, the cash items have been recovered. The accused was arrested by the police using research and technology.
On Monday, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad confirmed the arrest of the accused in a press conference along with the police officials and said that the accused who committed the bank robbery during the last week has been arrested by the police from the city of Sargodha in Punjab. .
Speaking to the BBC on condition of anonymity, a member of the Islamabad Police’s Joint Investigation Team specially formed to arrest the accused said that the accused was caught because of his white joggers.
According to the BBC, the said member of the investigation team said that during the investigation, the police suspected that the accused was living in a slum near Islamabad. After that, various settlements were examined. In the slums of Golra, such houses were inspected whose doors were locked. When the lock of one such house was broken, the policemen saw white colored joggers exactly like the ones worn by the accused in the CCTV footage during the incident.
The JIT member said that there was also a lock on the door of another room in the same house which was not broken by the policemen despite efforts. Later, the police officers broke the lock and recovered the motorcycle used in the incident. Also, the Kalashnikov used in the incidents was also present.
According to the police, the owner of this house was detained who said that he had given this house on rent to someone. When the police caught the person taking the house on rent, it was found that the house was rented out to someone else who is a resident of Sargodha for Rs.8,000 per month. The same person was the accused.
DIG Operations of Islamabad Ali Raza while holding a press conference in this regard said that there have been various incidents of bank robbery in Islamabad in recent days.
DIG Ali Raza said that CTD and CIA worked day and night to arrest the accused, technology and modern means were used to arrest the accused, the accused belongs to Sargodha and his age is 24. This robber used to work as an electrician in Islamabad for the last 4 years and was familiar with the streets of Islamabad.
DIG Ali Raza said that the accused appears to be uneducated, psychotic and influenced by movies.
