THE first Indonesian mosque will be built in Yokohama, Japan. The mosque construction program was initiated by the Indonesian missionary institution, Cinta Quran Fondation.
The Love Quran Foundation itself is a missionary, social and humanitarian institution that in all its activities always emphasizes the values and spirit of the Quran.
The construction of this mosque cannot be separated from the contribution of the Indonesian people. This was conveyed by the Founder & CEO of Cinta Quran Fatih Karim on Sunday (14/7) at the Grand Ballroom of The Ritz-Carlton, Pacific Place Jakarta. He expressed his gratitude for the trust and involvement of the Indonesian people in the construction of the first Indonesian mosque in Yokohama.
“We are very grateful to be able to announce that the payment for the land for the construction of the mosque has been paid in full as of December 2023. Until now, for construction purposes, tax costs, permits and others, the balance collected is 160 million yen from the total funding requirement of 300 million yen,” he said.
The construction of the first Indonesian mosque in Yokohama, Japan is one hundred percent the result of donations. Arief Junaedi, Chairman of the Yokohama Japanese Muslim Community, said that the Japanese government did not interfere in the construction of this mosque, and the Indonesian government has not responded to the letter that has been sent.
“The Japanese government did not intervene in the construction of this mosque, and we have tried to inform and send a letter regarding the construction of the Yokohama mosque to the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, but until now there has been no response or reply,” he said.

Land acquisition for the As-Solihin Yokohama mosque has been completed since December 2023. The construction of the first Indonesian mosque in Yokohama has received approval from the Japanese government.
Construction of the mosque will begin in late November 2024 and is expected to be completed one year later.
He also said that not only a mosque will be built here, but also an Islamic Center, where there will be a place for Japanese people who want to learn more regarding Islam.

In addition, there will be a childcare center during learning sessions, halal cuisine, and the mosque is designed to be friendly to people with disabilities.
Not only contributing to the construction of the mosque, the Love Quran Foundation actively carries out preaching to Japanese citizens who are interested in Islam, by introducing the values of the Quran and Muslim culture.
Together with Hajj Kyoichiro Sugimoto, President of the Chiba Islamic Cultural Center, they have distributed more than 3,000 copies of the Japanese translation of the Quran to Japanese citizens in less than six months.

The need for the Quran is great because it is an important tool for introducing Islam, he said.
Over the past decade, the number of converts in Japan has increased rapidly. However, the number of mosques and da’wah activities related to the Quran and Islam are still limited.
Therefore, the construction of the As-Sholihin Yokohama Mosque and the distribution of the Japanese translation of the Quran are the main priorities of the Cinta Quran Foundation.
Islamic studies for non-Muslim Japanese who are curious regarding Islam are also held, and Quran studies for new Muslims continue throughout the week. Imagine if in the propagation of the Quran there is our waqf investment.
