Islam in China must have a Chinese orientation: Xi Jinping

Beijing: President Xi Jinping said that Islam in China should have a Chinese orientation.

Xi Jinping said that Islam in China should be Chinese in orientation and that the country’s religions should be compatible with the socialist policies pursued by the ruling Communist Party of China. He added that the authorities should intensify efforts to uphold this policy.

Chinese news agency Xinhua has released a report on the president’s statement.

Xi also spoke regarding the need to improve the governance of religious affairs, ensure the healthy development of religions, and provide education to all ethnic groups.

“The religious common needs of believers should be ensured and they should unite with the party and the government,” Xi said.

He has also made statements in the past regarding changing the country’s Islam religion to align with the policies of the Chinese Communist Party.

Xi Jinping was speaking during his visit to China’s Xinjiang province, where Uighur Muslims live. It is also noteworthy that the response is also at the international level where the criticism that the Xi Jinping government is taking an inhumane stance once morest the Uyghurs is rising.

Xi’s government also faces accusations that Uyghurs are being held in camps and brutally exploited in the country. But Chana describes such camps as ‘education centres’.

At the same time, Xinjiang is also a province where Chinese security forces are constantly involved in suppressing Uyghur Muslims. Outside the province, the Chinese military has violently repressed Uighur Muslims protesting the Han Chinese immigration into Xinjiang.

The Chinese President arrived in Xinjiang on a four-day visit. He arrived in Xinjiang on July 12. After this, the President also met with the officials of the province.
