ISIS Claims Responsibility for Suicide Blast at JUI-F Party Gathering in Pakistan: Recent Updates and Investigation

Karachi: ISIS claimed responsibility for the suicide blast during the gathering of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) party in Pakistan. The disclosure of ISIS terrorists is through the Telegram channel. In the initial investigation, the police found that ISIS was behind the blast.

The explosion took place at Khar in Bajaur district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province at 4.10 pm on Sunday. At the same time, the number of people killed in the blast rose to 54 yesterday. Out of 200 people injured, 83 people are currently undergoing treatment in various hospitals.

A local leader of the party, Maulana Ziaullah, was also killed in the blast. The party’s local general secretary and district information secretary were also among the dead. 38 identified dead bodies were handed over to their relatives. Five of the dead are children.

The blast happened two hours following the meeting started at 2 pm. The suicide bomber, who infiltrated the meeting place where around 500 people attended the meeting, blindfolded the security personnel and exploded. 10 kg of explosives were attached to him. The deceased was in the front seat among the party members at the meeting place.

It was found that he exploded near the venue. It is suspected that the attack was aimed at any of the dignitaries who came to the conference. Police have detained three people in connection with the blast. Various countries like US, Russia and Saudi Arabia have condemned the attack.
