Daniel Isaila, the technical director of Baniyas (Capital Swords), announced that Rafael Elias had suffered a fracture in the right hand.
Elias had jumped to get hold of the ball, but he lost his balance following colliding with Khaled Butti, the star of Al Dhafra (Fares Al Gharbia), to fall wrongly.
The Brazilian player came out in the 100th minute of the match of the 16th round of the President’s Cup, but his replacement, Shaheen Al Darmaki, was able to score a goal and contribute to the victory of Swords of the Capital, 3-1.
Isela commented briefly on Elias’ injury, stating, “The Lord of the Worlds decides some things for us so that we can come back stronger.”
The Romanian coach touched on the meeting he had with Western Fares, and admitted, “It was a difficult match, as usual in the President’s Cup matches.”
And the 50-year-old continued, “I am completely happy with the result, even if it was achieved for us following difficulty .. I am happy with the victory, and with qualifying for the quarter-finals.”
Isela was keen to dedicate the victory to Ahmed Abu Namous, who missed the match at “Hamdan Bin Zayed Stadium” due to the circumstances of his father’s death the night before.
He said regarding the Palestinian player, “We all support him, and realize his value to us.”
