If Isabelle Deschamps Plante had doubts about the reaction of viewers to the idea that she succeeds Ricardo at the animation of the morning cooking show of Radio-Canada, she was quickly reassured.
As soon as she relayed the information on social networks, on April 2, once her mentor made the announcement on the set of Everybody talks about it“I was inundated with love,” she says, in an interview with Journal.
Collaborator on the show Ricardo for five years on screen, Isabelle Deschamps Plante has understood that Quebecers have already adopted her.
“That those close to me are happy, I understand that, but it touched me that people thought Ricardo made the right choice. I cried for an hour reading the messages. I couldn’t believe the trust people had in me.”

From September, the former double finalist and current member of the jury of the culinary competition The Chiefs! will host a cooking show three times a week which, she says, will largely respect the formula that made the success of Ricardo for 21 years: offering easy-to-make recipes.
Associates Marie-Ève Charron and Éliza Prévost will remain at his side.
Her show, which does not yet have a title, will therefore be part of the continuity because, she often repeats in interviews, we cannot replace Ricardo.
“Ricardo is a legend. No one in Quebec has managed to have a daily newspaper for 21 years and go into people’s homes. It’s irreplaceable everything he rode with [sa femme] Bridget. It’s an empire. For my part, I will start with my first show and we will see (laughs). I will relish my chance to be there.”

Isabelle Deschamps Plante has begun preparations for the premiere of her TV show this fall.
Reverse roles
If he leaves the animation, Ricardo will never be far from the kitchen. He will be producer of Isabelle’s show and coach of the latter.
In the category “the roles are reversed”, we will even see him regularly as a collaborator. “Every week, he will come and show us finds, recipes, favorites,” rejoices the host.
Filming will begin in mid-August with a view to the first broadcasts in September. Isabelle Deschamps Plante, who has been taking animation classes for two years, is very excited.
“It surprises me because I’m a stressed girl, but I can’t wait to start this project, I can’t wait to be with people, to show the way I cook. I find that really cool.”
“In the fall, Ricardo brought up the point that he didn’t want to come back. When asked if I had any interest, I said yes without hesitation. People don’t know it, but since I work for Ricardo, I’m a chef for the magazine too. Often, the recipes that Ricardo publishes are mine. I know its ecosystem very well.”
“I never thought I would have a TV show. By dint of doing and being judge of Chefs!, I realized that this is an area that I really like. I think a TV set looks like a kitchen. It’s very family-friendly, the teams are close-knit, you never know how the days will unfold.
“On TV, I like the educational side, sharing knowledge. I was already doing this with the restaurant teams. Doing it on a larger scale, reaching people in their homes, it turns me on. I don’t want people to remember me on TV, but when they are going to host the weekend, I would like them to say: this is an Isa recipe.
“When you develop a recipe, sometimes it works the first time, but sometimes you have to redo it 12-13-14 times. Like a cake, it has to be perfect. Afterwards, someone will test the recipe and if there are problems with the test, we retest it. Sometimes you have to rework it. It’s a great process for every recipe to be foolproof and simple to make for people at home. It looks easy, but it’s complex.
“There are so many new products and new trends. Food changes so much that renewing itself is not so difficult.”
