Al-Marsad newspaper: The family doctor, Dr. Saud Al-Shehri, answered the question, “Is walking immediately following a meal harmful to health?”
Saud Al-Shehri said, in a video posted on his Twitter account, “No, but in some side effects that may occur and are not dangerous.”
He pointed out: “When you eat blood, most of it goes to the digestive system due to the processes of digestion and absorption,” explaining: “Walking following eating may cause some disturbances to the digestive system, and it is not dangerous and may bother you because you took part of the share of blood that was going to the digestive system and directed it to your muscles and heart.” .
And he said: “There are studies that have assumed that walking immediately following a meal is excellent and that its benefits are better if you separate it from the meal by half an hour, and I do not support this talk.”
He pointed out: “If you walk immediately following the meal, there are benefits, and half an hour following eating the benefits are present, and if you walk at a time adjacent to the meal, you may enter into some confusion and indigestion.”
He continued: “The arrival of sugar from your foods decomposes into your blood needs some time, and it is impossible following a meal to reach your blood because in many things it was not digested. Walking following eating for half an hour is better because most of the sugars reached the blood.”
