For the preparation of the 4th national conference of the Yelema party, the political secretary of the party Hamidou Doumbia explains to us this Thursday, March 2, 2023 with precision the objective of the conference under the theme “Consolidating our achievements in an environment hostile to political parties” which will take place this Sunday, March 05 at the international conference center of Bamako CICB. Passionate regarding politics, Mr. Doumbia finds it the noblest and most appropriate way to serve his community.
Why the conference?
HD: The Yelema party is a party that respects its texts, which must keep its instances it is in this context that the 4th edition of the national conference was organized, there it is a question of calling the delegates from all party countries to discuss and exchange on several themes, but the central theme this year is “Consolidating our achievements in an environment hostile to political parties”.
How do you justify the disappointment of citizens by politics?
HM: Citizens disappointed with politics were counting on a result to match their wishes. It is obvious that we hear all day long. It is up to us to work and do enough pedagogy for the amalgam which is spreading and which consists in saying that all the political actors are responsible for the fall of the country. We cannot blame the citizens who expected good governance and an improvement in their living conditions during these 30 years. The population must know that all policies are not the same because there can be good ones as well as bad ones.
What do you mean by “our achievements”?
HD: In analyzing the current really complex environment for political parties, as a political party that thinks and prepares, it is important to know how we must develop our character of resilience during this period.
How do you explain the hostile environment?
HD: Today we have a lot of difficulties, first on the adversity through questions, speeches, through attempts at economic asphyxiation by the suppression of the financing of the political parties in spite of that we hold without these financings.
What should be done to enhance the image of political parties?
HD: Helping our fellow citizens, doing fundraising projects, we know that the best way to win back the hearts of citizens is to work and be more present.
We hold our meetings, we held our congress, our conference in all our regions to explain what we are and what we do. We will develop resolution strategies with the delegates, discuss to better face the multiple challenges to preserve our achievements and find innovative voices for justice for all.
Work for a more prosperous, much more transparent political environment that will allow citizens to trust politicians to govern and serve citizens. It is only with this correlation that we can solve this problem, so frustration is useless, we must work and redouble our efforts.
