Is the new blue and white goalie coming from Manchester United?

What OÖN readers have known for a week could become reality in the coming hours: Blue-White goalkeeper Nicolas Schmid is about to transfer to the island and will sign a long-term contract with English second division club FC Portsmouth. The 27-year-old is already in England – it’s just a question of when the clubs will officially announce the transfer.

And the trail for Schmid’s successor also leads to the island: According to OÖN information, Radek Vitek is set to become the number one in the steel city. The 20-year-old Czech would come on loan from a real top club: he is under contract with world-class club Manchester United until 2027.

An indication of the change: As with the Schmid transfer, the consulting agency “Connexion” also has a hand in the possible engagement of the multiple Czech youth team player. In the winter, they successfully placed a goalkeeper from the neighboring country in the Austrian top flight: Vitezlav Jaros from FC Liverpool played on loan at Sturm Graz in the spring, becoming champion and cup winner with the Styrian team.

His compatriot Vitek also wants to make use of the Bundesliga stage: the 1.98 meter tall goalie was most recently on loan between the posts at English fourth division club Accrington Stanley. Now the next loan to Austria follows.
