After a break of several months, Marriott Bonvoy is finally running a global promotion again. Since September 10th, bonus points can be collected again; depending on the length of the stay and the brand of the hotel, up to 4,000 additional Bonvoy points per stay are possible. Participants must register in advance registerwhich is possible at the push of a button. After that, you just have to spend at least two nights in one of the chain’s hotels. But is it worth sleeping at one of the Marriott brands just for that reason?
The current promo
The campaign runs until November 26th, registrations must be completed by November 12th at the latest. Stays in the MGM hotels are particularly worthwhile. There you will get 4,000 extra points in your account after two nights, but this brand can only be found in the USA. There are also only around 30 MGM hotels, almost all of which are in Las Vegas and are therefore probably out of the question for most readers.

What is the value of a point?
Anyone who is planning a stay in a Marriott, Sheraton, Ritz Carlton, Westin, W, Renaissance, Autograph Collection, Moxy & Co should definitely take advantage of the promotion. If you’re thinking about booking with Marriott just because of the promo, you should do the math. We’ll help you with that!
First and foremost, you would first have to find out what the value of a Bonvoy point is. Marriott typically sells 1,000 points for $12.50. You can’t necessarily take this as a basis because you want to earn well here. There are often promotions with a bonus of up to 50%. Then the value becomes a little more realistic.
Then it depends on what you want/can redeem the points for. Sometimes you have to redeem 50,000 points for a free night that would normally cost 200 euros. Some hotels cost 200 euros and more but only require 30,000 points. Ideally, you then use the 5th night free option and book 5 award nights for the price of 4. This maximizes your points, but the calculation becomes even more complicated.
It is therefore not possible to determine a general value here. On average, you can give the 2,000 bonus points an equivalent value of around 12.50 euros. The portal YOUR OWN comes to a similar value, where one point is given the equivalent of 7 cents, i.e. 14 US$ for 2,000 points. Not exactly a lot, but maybe a good guideline. This shows that in this case, short stays in cheap hotels are particularly worthwhile.
If you still make it to Las Vegas during the promotional period, pay attention to the MGM hotels – some are really cheap and will give you the full 4,000 points.

Bonus programs are quite complex, but that’s exactly what makes them so interesting. I tend to say that this promo isn’t worth it, at least not if you book a hotel in the chain specifically for it. You have to stay there for at least two nights and will then receive the equivalent of around €12.50.
But if you would be staying in a Marriott anyway, the matter is clear: definitely register and collect! If you are even a few points short of the next reward, you might also be interested in the promo instead of buying the 2,000 points for $25. In a final step, it is always important to further maximize the points and only redeem them where it would otherwise be expensive. Then the 2,000 points get a higher value than the €12.50.
