In 2022, the Russian car market experienced a real crisis: many foreign brands ceased their activities in the Russian Federation, the purchasing power of the population decreased, and the demand for cars fell noticeably. Nevertheless, the situation is gradually improving and there is a need to fill the empty niches in the market with new products.
In Russia, there are quite a few auto companies that are able to cope with this task. First of all, it is, of course, AvtoVAZ — this concern managed to maintain its position in the market and retained production even in a crisis situation. Unfortunately, the Volga Automobile Plant does not have enough resources to independently create new projects, as well as implement them. Therefore, there is a high probability that the Togliatti concern will find foreign partners in order to be able to produce new automotive products that will be in demand on the domestic market.
A good option for the Russian auto giant is the revival of cars that were once popular among domestic motorists. Thus, several problems can be solved at once:
- in a short time to develop and establish the production of cars, the demand for which exists in the Russian market;
- significantly reduce the cost of new cars;
- to minimize the market value of new cars, to make them affordable for the majority of Russians.
One of these models may be the VAZ-2102 2023-2024, the render images of which have already been presented by the Russian designer. Given that the cost of Granta and other Lada models has increased significantly over the past year, the appearance of such a station wagon on the market would be justified.
Note that hints of a possible revival of this car have already been heard from representatives of the Togliatti auto concern. Therefore, given the current situation in the Russian car market, the development and mass production of the VAZ-2102 seems quite realistic. If this project is approved, the presentation of this car can be expected at the end of 2023 or at the beginning of 2024.
