There are a large number of names mentioned in the Qur’an as a reference to God, Blessed and Most High, and confirming the names of God according to the opinions of scholars is a matter of compromise, so God is not called except by what He named Himself or what Al-Hadi Al-Bashir, may God bless him and grant him peace, said.

Al-Satar or Al-Satar is not one of these names, as there is nothing reported to indicate that they are among the names of God, but the name Al-Satar has been mentioned, as it was reported on the authority of Ya’la bin Umayyah, “Indeed, God is modest and conceals, and loves modesty and concealment. So if one of you washes, let him cover himself.” [هداية الرواة].

Is it permissible to say, oh protector?

The issue of permissibility differs, as according to scholars, if it is within the category of information regarding God Almighty, then it is broader than the category of names. Therefore, there is nothing wrong with saying, “Ya curtain, ya coverter,” because God is indeed a cover and a veil for the sins and sins committed by His servants.

Ruling on saying, “Ya Satir” Ibn Uthaymeen

In the context of talking regarding Ibn al-Uthaymeen’s ruling on the permissibility of saying, “Ya coverter” or “screen,” Ibn Uthaymeen said the following:

“The Protector is one of the attributes of God, and I do not know of anything wrong with what I know if he says: O Protector! Cover me, because the Protector in general is God Almighty, but instead he says: O Most Merciful, cover me, because mercy is general and includes everything through which what is desired is achieved.” And what is desired will be removed.”

Ibn Baz’s saying or Sater

As for Imam Ibn Baz, he said, I do not know anything regarding it, because the meaning of the curtain and the curtain is not mentioned in the hadiths or in the Qur’anic verses, and although these names describe the divine actions with the servants, but without being considered a name for God like the beautiful names, and the name of the curtain was mentioned, It means a cover, but it is an exaggerated adjective.

God covers us while we commit sin, covers our faults, covers our shortcomings, and covers the torrent of our bad thoughts, but calling God the Coverer is not the best thing that can be done, because this word is not mentioned in the Sunnah or the Holy Qur’an, and it is better to say the Most Beautiful Names.
