Has the World Championship already been decided following five races?

Many fans have this fear because Red Bull has won all five races of the season so far in 2023 and has even achieved four double victories. But team boss Christian Horner warned following the Miami triumph: “You should never write anyone off.”

It is still “a long, long way” until the title is mathematically certain. “We have a great car, we have a great team, we have two great drivers. But we still have a long way to go,” emphasizes Horner.

Exciting: He doesn’t believe that the current RB19 is such a weapon. It’s just a good evolution of the RB18. In fact, it was a few other teams that failed to live up to expectations with their cars.

“It’s surprising that the others didn’t deliver enough compared to last year. But no doubt they’ll try to change that. And I’m sure that we’ll see the first big updates from Imola,” he recalls.

Mercedes will bring a large package for the W14 there, and Ferrari has already announced new parts. Therefore, Horner would like to at least wait with a World Cup forecast “until we have seen what they bring to Imola and Barcelona.”

Too few pit stops?

Opinions on yesterday’s race differ. Some fans found the action good, others didn’t get enough action as there wasn’t a single retirement and not even a yellow flag. So does Formula 1 need more action?

Expert Karun Chandhok is at least of the opinion that more pit stops wouldn’t hurt. He is therefore once once more in favor of changing the rules so that all three tire compounds have to be used in a race.

This would mean that every pilot would have to stop at least twice and the (boring for some fans) one-stop races would be history. Chandhok wrote on Twitter that the change would make the races even more “exciting”.

He sees the Grand Prix in Miami as good proof of this.
