We analyzed the iPhone 13 Pro Max in heavy games, the idea is to answer how this Apple smartphone is performing in 2023, is it worth buying it to play?
We played 10 different games: Asphalt 9, Call of Duty Mobile, Diablo Immortal, eFootball, Free Fire, Genshin Impact, Mortal Kombat, PUBG, Tower of Fantasy and Farlight 84. Regarding the graphics, they all ran with the graphics at maximum, on the iPhones Gamebench, the app we use to analyze the FPS data, cannot analyze the battery because we need to keep the smartphone stuck on the PC to analyze it. So, we won’t have the autonomy here on the iPhone, okay?

Is iPhone 13 Pro Max good for heavy games?
Let’s now see how the iPhone 13 Pro Max did in games. How is data measured in games? This content is offering of GameBench. It is through Gamebench that we measure the frames that the smartphone supports. To use Gamebench on your smartphone, access the link.
Asphalt 9
The first game analyzed was Asphalt 9, in which we activated everything at maximum and in races the iPhone 13 Pro Max manages to reach an average of 59FPS with 100% stability. This will be a constant that you will see in games.
Call of Duty
The second game analyzed was Call of Duty in Battle Royale Mode. It unlocks all graphics options, we put everything at maximum, but even so it was not possible to go beyond 60FPS, reaching an average of 59FPS with 100% stability.
Diablo Immortal
The third game analyzed was Diablo Immortal. Like the other games, the iPhone had maximum active options and didn’t go beyond 60FPS on average with 100% stability. It was a pretty smooth gameplay, nothing to complain regarding.
eFootbal
Do you like to play a football game? We like it and among the best for mobile, eFootball is certainly one of them. With graphics at maximum, Internacional even seems to play well and the iPhone managed to get 59FPS with 100% stability.
Free Fire
The heaviest game in this video is Free Fire, brinks. In Free Fire you will have a maximum of 60FPS with 100% stability with maximum graphics. Note that so far, only a few POCOPhones have been able to reach 90FPS in this game.
Genshin Impact
Anyone who expects Genshin Impact to work for the iPhone 13 Pro MAX will have to sit and wait. After all, Genshin was the game that gave the worst result on the iPhone, it was 59FPS with 99% stability. Yes, that was the worst result.
Mortal Kombat
I expected more from Mortal Kombat on the iPhone. The cell phone has a 120Hz screen and so far no game has passed the 60fps barrier. That’s what happened with Mortal Kombat, which got 60FPS at 100% stability.
Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds
Pubg on the iPhone doesn’t have a GFXTools that works properly, so we left everything at default, but with maximum graphics, active shadows and etc, the iPhone 13 Pro Max sent 60FPS with 100% stability, a good option to drop in Rozhok centering the gameplay on the map.
Tower of Fantasy
Playing Genshin’s competitor, we got 60FPS at 100% stability. This is one of the games that usually gets more than 60fps, but it wasn’t possible on the iPhone. Although the gameplay was very good and fluid. Too bad not having a game that went beyond that range of frames.
Farlight 84
To finish the list of 10 analyzed games, we have Farlight 84, a game that is a mixture of Free Fire and Apex Legends, in which I really enjoyed playing, it is dynamic, fast, with good graphics and good optimization, it ran at 60FPS with 100% stability on iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Maximum temperature reached
Analyzing the temperature of the iPhone, playing the games, the maximum temperature we might reach was 41.2ºC on the surface, and he left 27ºC in the ambient temperature that he was before starting to play. that is, he warmed up 14.2°C during testing. It is possible that this is a problem in warmer cities or in the summer, as it is winter and it is currently 24ºC here in the city, it was not a problem.
verdict
Honestly, I think that I, like you, expected more performance from the iPhone, in fact, we expected the frames to overcome the 60FPS barrier. Well, this performance is far from bad, all, I repeat, all gameplays were super fluid. In the game options, there are even options that go beyond 60FPS, as in Genshin that reaches 120FPS. Now the frame monitor showed only 60FPS, it may be some extra configuration you have to do, if you know, leave it in the comments and I’ll redo the test. Anyway, it was super good to play with the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which guarantees us guaranteed gameplay.
