Barely iOS 16 released (in beta developers at the moment), here is already a first comparison with iOS 15.5 signed iAppleBytes. The youtuber has indeed compared the two systems in terms of fluidity and speed of operation. Several devices underwent the test, iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, iPhone XR and iPhone 8. The opportunity to have a first glimpse of potential performance improvements or degradations with the new version of the iPhone software.
iOS 16 vs iOS 15.5, which is faster?
Be careful, understand that these tests carried out on video are not scientific, in the sense that they lack a certain rigor allowing a clear conclusion to be drawn on a result. All the same, iAppleBytes has taken care to perform the same manipulations on each OS and several iPhones, in addition to offering a comparison of benchmark tests.
In any case, we see that on iPhone 13, iPhone 12 and iPhone 11, the transition to iOS 16 does not doesn’t seem to have caused any slowdown. Everything seems as fluid as on iOS 15.5, opening apps, browsing the internet, scrolling the screen, etc.
It is on iPhone XR and iPhone 8 that we can see a certain lack of responsiveness of iOS in version 16. Some applications do not seem to open as quickly as under iOS 15.5, Weather, for example, but also Facebook or YouTube. The difference is slight on iPhone XR, but very present. She is more marked on iPhone 8.
As for the benchmark scores, on all machines they are almost identical between the two versions of iOS tested.
For me, on my iPhone XS, iOS 16 feels more responsive to me than iOS 15.5. Remember, however, that iOS 16 is currently only available in beta 1 developers. By the time its final version is released in the fall, its performance might be optimized. Anyway, we hope so.
