The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), which has not made an official statement on the issue of sexual intercourse between astronauts, has announced that it will study weightless sex in space in the future.

According to foreign media such as the Daily Mail and Metro on the 9th (local time), NASA responded to the proposal of ‘sex study’ by scholars at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

In a proposal to NASA, scientists from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, said that “studying sex in low-gravity environments is essential for the construction of extraterrestrial settlements.”

Meanwhile, NASA has banned sexual intercourse between astronauts inside the International Space Station (ISS). The ISS, which is large enough to accommodate 10 astronauts or less, is almost weightless, with about one millionth of Earth’s gravity acting on it.

However, scholars emphasized that research on ‘sex in space’ will be necessary as more civilians go to space in the future as ordinary people who are not professional astronauts will be able to travel into space.

In this regard, a NASA spokesperson said, “We will consider studying sex in space for future Mars exploration.”

“We are interested in ensuring the health and safety of crew members who spend long periods of time in space,” a NASA spokesperson said in an interview. .

“If the need for more in-depth research on reproductive health in space is identified, we will take appropriate action,” he said.

“At this time, we have no plans to delve into this topic further,” he said, adding that “this could change as space travel gets closer.”
