Is cooking with gas dangerous for your health?

In fact this study titled “”Exposing the hidden health effects of cooking with gas” comes at a very opportune time. The European Commission is currently revising the domestic cooking appliance regulations. Le CLASP and the Respire association therefore arrive at the right time. Tony Renucci: “Cis lobbying, but in a good way. It’s due lobbying for public health.

But then, what does another lobby think, “Gas.be” who promotes – in Belgium – the use of gas and therefore of gas stoves? No response to our interview request, but we still received an email. Chosen piece: ” Many materials and substances are also present in the home which have an impact on the quality of this air “.

Translation : the gas pollutes but it is not the only one … it’s a bit short, isn’t it? We therefore sought advice from Herve Jeanmart, professor at the polytechnic school of Louvain (UCLouvain). For him, the combustion of gas does produce nitrogen dioxide and other pollutants. He confirms the dangerousness of this pollutant : Nitrogen dioxide is a potential oxide, it is very irritating in fact for the respiratory tract and therefore sensitive people tend to be affected by the presence of N02 at fairly low concentrations”.
