A disorder of the digestive tract, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is characterized by abdominal pain and transit problems. Many people suffer from it.
To relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, which affects at least 5% of the French population, it is essential to pay attention to what you put on your plate. Here are the foods to avoid.
Pizza
When you suffer from irritable bowel syndrome, also called functional colopathy, it is recommended to limit high-fat dishes, such as pizzas, or fries, because they stimulate the gastro-colic reflex of the intestine.
Wholemeal bread
It is also necessary to reduce the intake of insoluble fibres, that is to say which do not dissolve in water and can promote gastric emptying and diarrhea. It is found in particular in wheat bran and whole wheat. Also avoid multi-grain bread.
The cabbage
Red, white, flower, Brussels… Cabbages, like all cruciferous vegetables, are not allies in case of IBS. And for good reason, they increase the production of intestinal gas and thus tend to cause bloating and other discomfort.
Coffee
Coffee can have laxative effects and be a bowel irritant. That is why it is recommended not to abuse it. In the irritating drinks department, be aware that alcohol and citrus juices can also cause disorders of the intestinal wall.
lentils
Legumes such as lentils, beans, or peas are so-called fermentable foods. Once absorbed, they tend to ferment because our bodies fail to digest certain substances properly, and this amplifies digestive problems.
