The Ñuble River Surveillance Board, represented by its president Fernando Rueda, met yesterday with the Minister of Public Works, Jessica López; Senator Gustavo Sanhueza and the national and regional authorities of the portfolio.
Rueda said he requested a response “for commitments that the ministry would not have fulfilled in recent months, such as an extended meeting with irrigators, initially set for the third week of March, in addition to streamlining work meetings with the teams in charge of the project of the “MOP”.

“There is the government’s decision to push the reservoir, we believe that this is a very important infrastructure for the region,” said Minister López during the meeting, an aspect valued by Rueda, who, however, requested a little more clarity and speed regarding how the initiative is progressing and the way it is being socialized.
“There are doubts regarding the way the project is being conducted. We have always appreciated the opportunities for meetings with the authorities, and we have maintained a spirit of collaboration and contributing to the progress of the project, but unfortunately we continue to see how time passes and this continues to drag on. We appreciate that there is the expressed will to continue advancing with the project, but an argument is established to extend the tender for the reservoir once more such as the annulment of the Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA) of the electrical transmission line, a factor that we raised on several occasions. to the ministry, which tells us that it was not 100% assimilated into its roadmap,” said the leader.
Independent of that factor, Rueda added that “it is quite incomprehensible that, in more than two years, the authorities have not yet organized a broad discussion with the irrigators and that it has had to be the Surveillance Board that constantly has to explain to its bases the details of a project whose principal is the MOP.”
Along the same lines, the Surveillance Board asked the minister for the presence of the MOP in a discussion on the Nueva La Punilla reservoir, organized by the San Carlos Farmers Association, this Saturday, at the Agroexpo.
