Ironman: ARD Tagesschau announcer Schröder solves Hawaii ticket – dpa

ARD Tagesschau announcer Thorsten Schröder is allowed to take part in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii for the second time. At the Ironman in Frankfurt last Sunday, the man from Hamburg finished fourth in the 55 to 59 age group and thus secured one of the coveted tickets for a start on the Big Island on October 8th.

Schröder, who needed 9:55:18 hours for 3.8 kilometers of swimming, 180 kilometers of cycling and 42.195 kilometers of running in Frankfurt, told the online edition of the magazine “triathlon”: “That’s what I wanted, what I two have been working towards for years.” In 2017, the enthusiastic triathlete qualified for Hawaii for the first time and then took a break.
