It is noted that this suspension applies regardless of measures that currently prevent Russian athletes, coaches or officials from participating in competitions.

Wiener’s suspension will remain in effect until March 5, 2025.

“The parties have the right to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland, within 21 days from notification of the decision,” the message emphasizes.

In addition, Wiener must pay 5 thousand Swiss francs as costs of the appeal.

In March of this year, the International Federation of Artistic Gymnastics (FIG) suspended Viner-Usmanova for two years for public statements following the results of the Russian team at the Tokyo Olympics. Comments regarding the ratings of Russian women in individual and team all-around at the Olympic Games, where Russian women were left without gold medals for the first time in many years, were considered offensive and in violation of FIG rules.

The president of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics and the head coach of the national team is also accused of unwillingness to cooperate with the investigation into the case of the withdrawal of the candidacy of Russian Natalya Kuzmina from the elections to the FIG technical committee for rhythmic gymnastics in 2021.
