Irene Strong, formerly known as Irene Leahy, peacefully passed away on February 4, 2025, at the Sheelin Nursing Home in Mountnugent, County Cavan. Preceding her in death were her beloved husband Ernest and her brothers, jack and Rob.

Irene’s passing leaves a important void in the lives of her daughter Glenda, son Wesley, grandchildren Andrew, Laura, Sophie, Gary, Julie, and Gemma, great-grandson arthur, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, and friends.

A private funeral service will be held for immediate family, in accordance with Irene’s wishes. Though, those who wish to pay their respects and share memories are welcome to attend a public funeral service at St. Paul’s Church in Ballymachugh on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow in the adjacent graveyard.
