i24news reported that the site penetration took place after the start of pumping gas into the floating production unit in the offshore Karish gas field.
The development of the field, located west of the Israeli city of Haifa, raises a long-standing dispute between Tel Aviv and Beirut over the maritime borders.
And the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that the “Energean” company, which has a concession in extracting gas from the Karish field in the Mediterranean, will start the trial pumping process on Sunday.
On Saturday, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz issued a threat to Lebanon, warning that any act of sabotage or attack by Hezbollah to disrupt Israel’s start of work and the extraction of gas in the Kerish field would cost Lebanon a heavy price and would lead to its dismantling, as he put it.
