Iraq – The Security Media Cell in Iraq announced yesterday, Saturday, the preliminary data of the Kalsu base explosion incident in Babylon, noting that there was no air activity throughout the governorate before and during the explosion.
The cell said in a statement, “At one o’clock following midnight last night, an explosion and fire occurred inside the Kalsu camp, north of Babil Governorate, on the international line, which includes headquarters for the army, police, and Popular Mobilization Forces, which led to the martyrdom of a member of the Popular Mobilization Forces and the injury of 8 others.” Among them is a member of the Iraqi army, with moderate and minor injuries.”
The statement indicated that civil defense personnel and supporting agencies “prevented the fire from spreading further and were able to control it in record time.”
The security media statement said: “Based on preliminary data and scrutiny of official positions and statements, two statements were issued by the international coalition forces in Iraq and the official spokesman for the Pentagon indicating that there is no air activity or military action throughout Babylon, while the Air Defense Command report confirmed and through the effort Technical and radar detection showed that there were no drones or fighters in the airspace of Babylon before and during the explosion.”
According to the statement, “a specialized higher technical committee from civil defense and other relevant groups was formed to determine the causes of the explosion and fires at the site and surroundings of the accident area.”
Earlier, the Popular Mobilization Forces issued a statement, confirming that it was conducting an investigation and that it would announce the details of the incident if the preliminary investigation was completed.
A security official in Babil Governorate indicated that the attack on the Kalsu base was carried out by missile strikes and not by marches.
