Iran's security leader highly appreciates multifaceted ties with Russia

The dialogue Shamkhani mentioned is called the Moscow Format Consultation on Afghanistan, which was launched in 2017 with the participation of Russia, Iran, India, China, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Speaking to reporters upon arrival in Moscow, he said relations between Iran and Russia in many fields, including economy, defense, security, science and trade, “are basically developing more than before. This”.

Mr. Shamkhani said that in order to ensure the sustainable development of the relationship in many fields, it is necessary to review and implement the roadmap for the development of bilateral relations outlined by the leaders of the two countries.

According to the news agency Sputnik Newson the sidelines of the dialogue on Afghanistan, Mr. Shamkhani will have a meeting with Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrusev to discuss issues related to relations between the two countries and the implementation of bilateral cooperation projects.

In November 2022 Mr. Patrusev visited Iran at the invitation of Mr. Shamkhani. Mr. Shamkhani’s trip to Moscow came after both Russia and Iran denied US media reports that the two countries cooperated in the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for Russia’s use in the war in Ukraine. .

Iran has previously been accused of supplying Russia with UAVs, but Moscow has so far not confirmed this, while Tehran recently admitted to delivering UAVs to Russia but before the war in Ukraine.
