The reformist Masoud Al-Badzikian has been elected as the President of Iran. The Iranian Election Commission announced that Al-Badishian won 1.63 million votes and defeated his rival Saeed Jalili by 2.8 million votes.
It should be noted that the success of Masoud Al-Badikyan is being interpreted as a big wave of change in the country because the reactionary and ultra-reactionary elements were in the power house for many decades.
In May, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi was killed in a helicopter crash, which led to early presidential elections in Iran. The turnout in the first phase of the presidential election was very low, following which the turnout in the second phase was significantly higher.
The Iranian Election Commission has announced the victory of the reformist Masoud Al-Mabzikian. There have also been speculations regarding him being brought in by the establishment. Out of 30 million votes, Masoud Al-Badzikian got 1.7 million votes while Saeed Jalili got 1.1 million votes.
The Iranian economy is facing severe difficulties due to international sanctions. Regarding the nuclear program, Iran’s dispute with the Western powers also continues. The conversation is over. Saeed Jalili, the defeated candidate, was Iran’s nuclear negotiator.
The bodies of the Iranian president and foreign minister who died in a helicopter crash were found, 5 days of mourning were announced in Iran.
Masoud Al-Mabzikian was the only reformist presidential candidate. Only 40 percent of Iran’s 61 million voters participated in the first round of Iran’s presidential election, the lowest turnout in Iran since the 1979 revolution. Masoud Al-Badzikian has got 42% and Saeed Jalili 39% of the votes. After several decades of reactionary and ultra-reactionary elements in power, the success of Masoud Meghzikian is a fact that boosts the morale of the reformists in Iran.
