Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemns the statement of foreign and Arab ministers: ignoring the facts

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Nasser Kanaani, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, expressed his country’s condemnation of the statement issued by the 158th meeting of foreign ministers of the League of Arab States and the Quartet on Iran.

The official Iranian news agency quoted Kanani as saying that “issuing such decisions indicates the lack of a correct understanding of the progress of regional developments by some of the mentioned countries and their ignoring of the facts in the West Asian region.”

He continued, “The issuance of such decisions contradicts the orientations of some countries that stand behind them, to activate their relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.” He reiterated the call to Iran’s neighboring countries to “negotiate and resolve misunderstandings through diplomatic channels.”

Regarding the issue of the three islands, Kanaani stressed that “the measures taken by Iran are within the framework of national sovereignty and the country’s territorial integrity.” He denounced “others’ interference in this field,” according to the Iranian agency.
