Iran’s big claim to have thwarted the progress of the American submarine

Iran’s Navy Commander Shahram Irani claimed that the advance of the US submarine entering the Gulf was thwarted, while the US Navy denied the incident.

The statement from Iran said that the US submarine was moving silently underwater but the Iranian submarine Fateh tracked it and forced it to stop its advance towards the Strait of Hormuz.

The statement said that the US submarine had entered our territorial waters but corrected its course after being warned.

Iran said that “the submarine was using all its capabilities to try its best to pass without being seen in total silence”.

“We will show the real picture to international organizations that he has violated our border,” the officials said.

The American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain denied this news in a statement and called it Iranian ‘disinformation’.

Commander Timothy Hawkins said that ‘a US submarine has not been sent to the Strait of Hormuz today or in the near future’.

He said that ‘the claims are an expression of Iran’s disinformation which is not in the interest of maritime security and stability of the region’.

Earlier this month, the nuclear-powered, missile-armed submarine Florida was active in the Middle East in cooperation with the Fifth Fleet, the US Navy said.

Tensions between Iranian and US forces have flared several times in the past, with the Iranian Navy saying in early April that it had detected and warned of the presence of US spy ships outside the Gulf.

Earlier in 2019, Iran shot down a US drone, which it said was flying over southern Iran.

Strategic drones
Iran’s state media reported that the Ministry of Defense has delivered more than 200 new drones equipped with missiles and electronic warfare systems to the army.

In a televised ceremony, Defense Minister Mohammad Raza Ishtiani handed over “more than 200 long-range strategic drones” to Army Chief Abdul Rahim Mousavi, state news agency IRNA said.

The report stated that the drones developed by the Iranian Ministry of Defense are designed for reconnaissance and operational missions and these drones can also carry air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles.

The United States and the European Union had also imposed sanctions on Iran due to the same drone program and alleged that these drones were being supplied to Russia in unnamed vehicles for the war in Ukraine.

On the other hand, Tehran has denied such allegations.
