Iranian PR urges US to listen to citizens who refuse genocide in Gaza – Jornal OPaís

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said this Saturday in Algiers that the United States “must listen to the voice of its citizens” who “reject the genocide in Gaza”

According to Ebrahim Raisi, “the continued murder of Palestinians and the blockade of the Gaza Strip are happening because US support for Israel continues”.

The Iranian leader also accused Israel of not respecting any international convention and said that the country should be expelled from the United Nations and that all relations with it should be interrupted.

Raisi, who was speaking at the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (FPEG), which takes place on Saturday in the Algerian capital, dedicated a large part of his speech to the Israeli offensive in the Palestinian strip, which began almost five months ago.

The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, as well as his Tunisian counterpart, Kais Said, guest country, and other leaders of the FPEG member countries also expressed their support for the Palestinian people in the ongoing conflict.

“In remembering the struggle of the Algerian people (for independence), we affirm our full support for the struggle of the Palestinian people who face unjust aggression, and we denounce the brutal attempts to exterminate them before the eyes of the world,” said Latif Rashid.

The Hamas Ministry of Health announced, this Saturday, in a new report, the deaths of 30,320 people in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement, on October 7, 2023.

In a statement, the Ministry of Health, controlled by Hamas, also reported 92 deaths in the last 24 hours and a total of 71,533 injured in Palestinian territory since the start of the conflict.

In the October 7, 2023, attack by the Islamist movement Hamas on territory near the Gaza Strip, around 1,200 people were killed, mostly civilians, but also close to 400 military personnel, according to official Israeli figures.

Around 240 civilians and military personnel were kidnapped, with Israel indicating that more than 100 remain in the Gaza Strip, territory controlled by Hamas since 2007.

In retaliation, Israel, which promised to destroy the Palestinian Islamist movement, carries out a military operation in the Gaza Strip.
