[서울=뉴스핌] Reporter Choi Won-jin = Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagherikani met with First Vice Foreign Minister Choi Jong-gun on the 6th (local time) to urge the lifting of frozen funds in South Korea.
According to local IRNA news agency, Deputy Foreign Minister Bagherikani, who is the head of negotiations for the restoration of the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA), met with Choi in Vienna, Austria on the same day and said, “It is justified not to lift the frozen funds solely because of the unilateral sanctions of the United States. We can’t do that,” he said, stating that the South Korean government is responsible for releasing the blocked funds.
This dialogue was conducted independently of the restoration of the nuclear agreement. Vice Minister Choi is visiting Vienna, where negotiations to restore the nuclear agreement are ongoing from the 4th to the 9th.
