Tehran – In Iran, a controversial penal reform of the headscarf requirement was drastically tightened shortly before the vote in parliament. After an adjustment, the bill now includes 70 articles, as the newspaper “Shargh” reported on Sunday. The draft is to be voted on in parliament in the next two months. The penal reform is a response by the clerical and political leadership to the women-led anti-Islamic Republic protests in the fall of 2022.
