THE HEAD of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threatened to attack Israel again on Thursday (17/10) in response to any Israeli military action against Tehran.
“Israel, do not repeat mistakes,” said General Hossein Salami at a funeral held for Abbas Nilforoushan, an IRGC commander, who was killed along with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut last month.
“If Israel behaves badly, if Israel attacks any of our targets, whether in the region or Iran, we will again attack Israel painfully,” he added, as quoted by Iranian media.

The Iranian commander said that the October 1 missile attack on Israel was the smallest within Iran’s military capabilities. “We know the enemy’s (Israel’s) weaknesses,” added Salami.
Salami’s warning came as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited Egypt on Thursday as part of diplomatic efforts to prevent an Israeli attack on Iran.
Iran is on highest alert in anticipation of Israel’s military response to Tehran’s Oct. 1 missile attack. The attack was in response to the recent killings of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.

Israel has threatened a deadly, precise and shocking retaliatory strike against Iran.
Regional tensions have risen due to Israel’s brutal assault on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 42,400 people, mostly women and children, following Hamas attacks last year.
The conflict has spread to Lebanon with Israel launching deadly attacks across the country killing more than 1,500 people and wounding more than 4,500 others since last month. (Ant/Z-2)
