The arrest of Farida Moradakhani reveals the extent of the division in Iran, which dates back to the beginnings of the establishment of the religious regime in Iran in 1979 and continues to this day, and the gap between supporters and opponents of the regime is increasing in the same house and the same family, even if it is the family of the Supreme Leader himself.

Charity and peaceful protests

Farida Muradkhani’s brother said in the interview that she was not a political activist, because there is no freedom in Iran to engage in political activities, but she was defending human rights and the families of the protests’ victims, doing charitable work and participating in peaceful protests.

Mahmoud Moradkhani also accused the Iranian regime of knowing only the language of repression and imprisonment, stressing that this would not prevent his family from opposing the regime as his father, Ayatollah Ali Moradkhani Tehrani, opposed the regime before Ali Khamenei became the guide of the Iranian regime.

He added, “Of course, Ali Khamenei is my uncle, and he knows very well our opposition to the regime since its establishment over four decades ago,” stressing that the regime will not be able to silence him and his family, as it tried and failed to silence his father.

It is Ayatollah Ali Muradkhani Aranj, better known as Sheikh Ali Tehrani, an Iranian Shiite cleric, writer and preacher who was married to Ali Khamenei’s sister, supported the revolution and then defected and opposed the regime.
