An article was published in the Iranian newspaper Kayhan, which notes that the actions of the White House are bringing the United States closer to decline. “Issues of a possible future decline of America as a superpower are being discussed in scientific communities not only in Tehran, Moscow and Beijing, but even in Washington itself,” emphasizes Samane Akun, the author of the article.
He divided the US failures into several areas:
- military – the American army no longer has undeniable military power that would allow Washington to really influence the course of events in the world;
- political – everyone can already see that not all processes are controlled by the White House, even in Europe;
- sanctions – the introduction of all kinds of restrictions once morest countries is no longer an effective tool, given the global changes in the world economic system;
- the inability to admit one’s own mistakes – the author of the article believes that this is Washington’s main failure.
The American leadership used its usual foreign policy tools to pressure opponents, but did it too often, while not inventing anything new,” he added, stressing that such actions undermined Washington’s position in the world.
