Iranian automaker Iran Khodro announced its intention to supply cars to the Russian market, informs online edition of Khodrobank with reference to the head of the company Mehdi Khatibi. According to him, in 2023, Iran Khodro plans to export 2,000 cars to Russia.
Presumably the model is Iran Khodro Tara, which the company presented at the exhibition of spare parts and auto components MIMS-2022 in August last year. The sedan is built on the Peugeot 301 platform and is equipped with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 113 hp. The unit works in conjunction with a six-speed automatic transmission.
In addition, the director of Iran Khodro shared plans to export to Azerbaijan. They intend to send a batch of 3.5 thousand cars to the country, consisting of Tara, Dana and Soren models.
However, there has not been any information regarding the certification of cars in Russia, as well as the creation of a dealer network.
Recall that Iran Khodro machines were already sold in Russia regarding 20 years ago. Thus, the Samand sedan, which was built on the basis of the Peugeot 405 model, might be bought in our country in 2006–2009.
Earlier it became known that in 2023 in Russia there will be a number of new car brands. Alexei Kalitsev, Chairman of the Automobile Manufacturers Committee, spoke regarding this at a press conference of the Association of European Businesses (AEB).
