Iran: Issued NOTAM – Asking aircraft to change routes 2024-08-07 09:08:04

At midday on Monday, Iran issued a NOTAM (notice of flight operations) for the center, west and northwest of the country, advising aircraft to change their routes.

The news, in fact, is broadcast as an emergency in the Israeli media.

Israel has sent reinforcements to towns bordering the West Bank amid fears of a possible infiltration, the Israel Defense Forces radio service said.

Military Radio reported that Israel had received information about impending Palestinian ground attacks from the Israeli-occupied territories, directed by Iran and Hamas.

He warned that the West Bank could soon become a “main arena” in Israel’s war against Hamas as violence flares in the region, with tensions high over the war in Gaza and a possible regional escalation.

Israel is bracing for a major attack by Iran and its proxies following the killings in Beirut and Tehran last week.

Israeli airstrikes in the West Bank killed nine suspected militants on Saturday, while a West Bank Palestinian killed two Israeli civilians and wounded two others in a knife rampage near Tel Aviv on Sunday.

Israel could consider launching a pre-emptive strike on Iran if it uncovers definite evidence that Tehran was about to launch an attack, according to an Israeli media report.

On Sunday night, Benjamin Netanyahu called Israel’s security chiefs to an emergency meeting, amid preparations for an Iranian response to the back-to-back killings of a Hezbollah leader and the political leader of Hamas.

During the meeting, the option of striking Iran as a deterrent was discussed, Ynet said, citing Israeli officials involved in the discussion.

It added that such a move would only be permitted if its own intelligence could fully confirm that an attack was coming.
