Iran is ready to implement nuclear deal if Biden lifts sanctions on Tehran: Javad Zarif

According to Arab News Agency, in an interview given to Iranian media, Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said that Iran is ready to fully implement the 2015 nuclear deal if the newly elected US President Joe Biden ends the sanctions imposed on Tehran.

Javad Zarif said that this work can be done immediately through only three executive orders.

He said that if Joe Biden is ready to implement the American commitments, then we can immediately return to the agreement according to our full commitments and negotiations are possible within the framework of this agreement.

The Iranian foreign minister added that we are ready to discuss how the US can withdraw from the agreement, the situation will improve in the next few months as Joe Biden can lift the sanctions imposed on Iran through three executive orders.

According to media reports, Joe Biden has expressed his determination to rejoin the nuclear agreement between 6 world powers in 2015.

What was agreed in the nuclear agreement?

In July 2015, under the ‘Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action‘ signed by six world powers, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia and China, with Iran, Iran had agreed that it would not develop nuclear weapons. It would limit stockpiles of enriched uranium used as fuel and nuclear weapons in reactors for 15 years, while gradually reducing the number of centrifuges used for uranium enrichment over a 10-year period. .

Iran also agreed to modify its heavy water facility so that it could no longer produce plutonium, the material used in a bomb.

In exchange for accepting all these conditions, the economic sanctions imposed on Iran by the United Nations, the United States and the European Union were lifted.

Iran has always insisted that its nuclear program is entirely for peaceful purposes and that it abides by the nuclear deal, which is also certified by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

As soon as US President Donald Trump took office, he started calling the nuclear agreement with Iran as destructive and crazy, after which the US withdrew from the agreement.
