Iran bus accident: The process of returning dead bodies of Pakistani pilgrims has begun

Iran Pakistani Ambassador Mohammad Mudassar said on Friday that all arrangements have been completed to bring back the dead bodies and injured Pakistanis who died in the accident to the pilgrims’ bus in Yazd city on August 21.

28 people were killed in a bus accident between Tuesday and Wednesday in Yazd, while many others were injured. The passengers are said to be from Larkana, Khairpur Meris, Kashmore and Nowshehru Feroze district.

Muhammad Mudassar wrote in one of his messages on X that ‘by the grace of Allah we have completed the arrangements and in the afternoon a special plane is being sent from Yazd to Sindh for the return home of some of our injured citizens and the dead.’

He also appreciated the joint cooperation of Iran and Pakistan on all these arrangements.

After the accident, the government of Pakistan directed its ambassador in Tehran and officials in other consulates to help Pakistani pilgrims affected by the accident on reaching Yazd.

Ambassador Mohammad Mudassar was meeting with the Iranian authorities in Yazd to oversee the arrangements for the return of Pakistani pilgrims and the treatment of the injured.

According to the report of Mehr, the Iranian news agency, the public relations department of the Yazd Emergency Department announced that the bus of Pakistani pilgrims overturned in front of the Dashir Taftan check point on Tuesday night and caught fire.

According to Iranian media, there were 51 people on the bus, while Mohammad Mudassar shared the list of 28 dead on X.

The convoy of Pakistani pilgrims was going to Iraq via Iran to participate in Arbaeen.
