iPod was the best selling retro electronic on OLX in 2022

Currently, Apple is mostly known and recognized for the iPhone, but there was a time when the King of Apple was the iPod. And it seems that, even after two decades since the arrival of the famous MP3 player, it has not been forgotten — quite the contrary.

In a list published by OLX, the iPod was the most searched and sold retro electronic of 2022 on the buy and sell website.

The exact numbers or the models in question were not revealed, but by the first three products of the Top 6 of top sellers are theme-related (people who still enjoy good music offline), even as music streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify grow.

Below are the six best selling products in the retro electronics category. The most searched list is similar, with the exception of MP3 and MP4, which switch places:

  1. iPod
  2. MP3
  3. MP4
  4. Atari
  5. Super Nintendo
  6. Instax

OLX drew attention to the fact that these electronics are popular mainly for the “affective memory” of buyers:

Even with the success of new technologies, “retro electronics” remain popular and stir affective memories, recalling the childhood of a large part of the population.

When it comes to Apple products, we know that even though they are loved, their prices are always an issue to consider, as they are less attractive. So, while the iPod was the top seller, it certainly wasn’t at the top of the economy ranking when purchasing these used products.

No Top 6 below are the products with their average prices on the platform, as well as the percentage savings when comparing it to a new one.

  • MP4: R$ 1.003 (28%)
  • Super Nintendo: R$ 281 (21%)
  • Atari: R$ 1420 (20%)
  • iPod: R$ 320 (16%)
  • Instax: R$ 384 (12%)
  • MP3: R$ 168 (10%)
