“It would have been the worst decision the BCCI would have taken if the IPL had not started because it was the best thing that happened to Indian cricket,” Gambhir said.

Left-arm pacer Pat Cummins, bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 20.5 crore, is the second most expensive player. Harshal Patel, who was acquired by Punjab Kings for 11.75 crores, is the most expensive Indian player. 230.45 crores were bought by various teams for 72 players.

Darryl Mitchell (Rs. 14 crores, CSK), Alsari Joseph (Rs. 11 crores, RCB), Riley Roseau (Rs. 8 crores, PBKS), Rovman Powell (Rs. 7.40 crores, Rs. R), Shah Rukh Khan (Rs 7.40 crore, GT), Kumar Kushagra (Rs 7.2 crore, DC) and Travis Head (SRH, Rs 6.80 crore) are leading the IPL star auction.
