Lalit Shah, who finished fifth for Delhi, was unbeaten on 48 off 38 balls, including four fours and two sixes. Opener Prithviraj Shah scored 38 off 24 balls with four fours and two sixes while Tim Seifett scored 21 off 14 balls with four fours.
Captain Rishabh took the ball for a run. Mandeep Singh and Rowman Powell were out for no runs. Shardul Thakur scored 22 off 11 balls, including four fours.
Malayalee batsman Basil Thampi took three wickets for Mumbai. Murugan Ashwin took two wickets and Timel Mills one.
Batting first in the IPL, Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capital by 177 runs for the loss of five wickets. Ishant Kishan’s unbeaten half-century in the opening over was crucial for Mumbai.
Ishant was unbeaten on 81 off 48 balls, including 11 fours. Captain Rohit Sharma scored 41 off 32 balls with four fours and two sixes.
Amolpreet Singh-8, Tilak Verma-22, Kieron Pollard-3, Tim David-12 and Daniel Sams-7 were the other run scorers.
Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets for Delhi. Khalid Ahmed took two wickets.
Delhi won the toss and elected to field.
