“iPhones 16” may have even thinner edges

And let’s go to more rumors regarding the “iPhones 16”. According to the Korean outlet Rest of the Journalthe devices will have even thinner edges than the current ones, thanks to the adoption of a technology called BRS (Border Reduction Structureor Edge Reduction Framework) by Apple.

The new technology, according to the article, should be in the four models that should be launched in the main line. Unlike others already tested on the market, it manages to reduce the lower frame of devices on a large scale, as the copper wires at the bottom are wound upwards.

Samsung Display, LG Display and BOE, which are the companies responsible for manufacturing iPhone screens, would have already guaranteed the use of BRS to Apple. If the news is confirmed, it will be another step taken by Apple towards a completely borderless smartphone.

The company’s objective, rumors say, is to achieve technology that is mature enough to hide the front camera and Face ID under the screen — something similar to what is already done by some manufacturers, but which is known to present some problems related to image quality.

Rumors have already indicated this type of advance for the iPhone 15 (which, obviously, did not materialize) and, more recently, precisely for the “iPhone 16 Pro [Max]” (which, apparently, will not materialize either). Now, something like this is not expected to reach devices before 2027.
