O DXOMARK today released its camera tests from iPhones 15 e 15 Pluswhich, it is worth noting, have already had their audio and display put to the test by the website.

Unlike the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, which have different telephoto cameras (3x versus 5x, respectively), the cheaper models have exactly the same set of lenses, which ended up causing the two to have basically identical performance.

The two smartphones, just to recap, have a 48 megapixel main sensor which, like last year’s Pro models, also feature quad-pixel technology — responsible for 2x zoom —, in addition to having an aperture of ƒ/ 1.6. The ultra-wide-angle camera, in turn, has 12MP and an aperture of ƒ/2.4. Both are powered by the A16 Bionic chip, launched last year.

Just like the more expensive models in the line, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus proved to be two extremely reliable cameras in a variety of situations, scoring a total of 145 points. This score was enough to place them in 12th position in the site’s global ranking and in 1st position in the ranking of premium cell phones — which is important not to confuse with that of ultra-premium devices, which include the iPhone 15 Pro/15 Pro Max, for example.

Among the positive points of the devices, DXOMARK highlighted bright brightness and good contrast when photos and videos are viewed in HDRHigh dynamic rangeor large dynamic range.”>1in addition to accurate and natural rendering and a good representation of skin tones, especially in situations with lots of light.

The ultra-wide camera received many of the same accolades as the main camera, scoring 90 points. Furthermore, the images seen in the preview from the camera were very consistent with what was obtained in the final visualization.

Another area where the new models did well was in Portrait mode photos. According to the website, the models were able to estimate the depth of the images well and segment the details well. In fact, it was exactly in the bokeh that the iPhones 15 managed to score their only maximum score: 80 points.

Although there was little noise in videos, things changed a bit in photos, especially in darker environments. Videos recorded under these conditions also lost some detail.

As usual, the iPhones shined in the video tests, scoring 153 points out of a possible 158. According to DXOMARK, they performed “exceptional,” with consistent results in a variety of conditions. Autofocus was rated “excellent”, while stabilization was considered “one of the best on the market”.

O iPhone 15 test It is very complete and goes into great depth into all the details of the devices’ cameras. The iPhone 15 Plus camera test, as stated, brought identical results and can be seen in full on this page.
